Direct Care Staff (Residential Child Care)

Direct Care Staff provide supervision, guidance, and daily support to youth in our residential program. Staff help maintain a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment while following Texas Minimum Standards and trauma-informed care practices. This role focuses on supporting youth with daily routines, emotional regulation, behavior guidance, and life-skills development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and ensure the safety of youth at all times
  • Maintain required child-to-staff ratios according to licensing standards
  • Support youth with daily routines such as hygiene, meals, chores, and recreation
  • Use trauma-informed approaches when interacting with residents
  • Monitor behavior and assist with de-escalation when needed
  • Complete daily reports, shift notes, and incident documentation
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and communication with supervisors
  • Transport residents to school, appointments, and activities when required
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, and program guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to pass criminal background and registry checks
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to remain calm during crisis situations

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with youth or children
  • Residential care or direct care experience
  • Training in trauma-informed care or TBRI
  • CPR / First Aid certification

Required Training & Certifications

To ensure the highest level of care, our staff complete required training programs provided by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

These trainings help caregivers understand trauma-informed care, youth development, and appropriate medical support.
